Having redefined the meaning of innovation in 2004,Java outscourcing, IBM went further to extend the meaning of innovation to 6 aspects in 2006, i.e. "product innovation, service innovation, business flow innovation,Sharepoint outsourcing, business model innovation, management and cultural innovation, and policy and social innovation".
In 2006, IBM also introduced the concept of "service innovation" into China. It signed an agreement with the Ministry of Commerce to promote the "Thousand-Hundred-Ten Project", in a bid to propel the development of China's modern service industries and structural upgrade of foreign-oriented industries; IBM and the Ministry of Education jointly signed MOU on Curriculum Development of Services Science,Java development outsourcing, Management and Engineering, thereby introducing service science courses into Chinese institutions of higher learning; it teamed up with the Ministry of Health to facilitate the establishment of medical information service sharing platform and improve the quality of regional medical services. To better assist the implementation of service strategy, IBM moved its global procurement headquarters to Shenzhen, China, launched 180-million-dollar China Investment Fund jointly with Lehman Brothers, and set up one of its two global SOA solution centers in Beijing. By taking these moves, IBM hopes to bring its advanced expertise in global IT services to China,Flex development, and help Chinese enterprises and governments achieve innovation, thereby lending stronger support to the growing development needs of China's service sectors.
