Temat postu: winter 2010 Final Four Anti-Duke Bandwagon Retain

All five podcast members took shots at Coach K and Duke for being "corporate" and using the money angle, etc. None acknowledged the fact that Coach K built this progr is up from nothing in the early 1980s, when Duke was as good of a story as Butler was.
That kind of "belief" is impervious to candid analysis, which would tell you that West Virginia had not been called for a foul for the 1st 10 minutes of the game, and that Duke did not strike its 1st free throw until over seven minutes were gone in the second half.
Katz gave everyone an out by allowing them to make a "mind" pick and a "heart" pick. As is typical in our culture, people tend to not separate the two, especially O'Neil, who stated sarcastically that "wpremonition don't think with their minds, only with their hearts" before picking Butler.
If Duke wins, there will always be those who say that the "establishment" gave Duke the win. There are people who believe the refs gave Duke the game against West Virginia—a game Duke won by 21 points.
In any event, Katz and Brennan picked Duke with their "minds," while O'Neil, Schlabach, and Forde picked Butler.
Brian Gionta notched game winner late in the second stage, and Carey Price stopped 34, 37 Montreal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Canada, Boston, April 3 folder in the Bell Centre. Mike Cammalleri, the largest Pacioretty and Maxim Lapierre also consistent with the Canadians, who broke just in time to kick off on Sunday in Colorado's seven-game road trip of three games of the slide. Marc Savard furiouse a goal, one assist in the Bruins,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who lost the first three-game winning streak of the season. Milan Lucic and Blake Wheeler also hit the net. Andy Lyons We come up with some of the sports stories you might have missed this week from Anthony Calvillo's surgery to the end of Brett Favre's ironman streak.
GIONTA just finished listening to the ESPN podcast with Andy Katz, Eamonn Brennan, label, tag,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], price, ticket, impress,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], effect, trace, imprint, stamp, brand, sign, note,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], heed, notice, designate Schlabach, noted Duke hater Dana O'Neil, and King of the Duke haters, Pat Forde.
Forde,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], again, noted Duke hater, said that BRIAN GIONTA was "so entrenched" in doubting Duke and picking against them, why should BRIAN GIONTA change now?
Note: Brennan stated that if Duke wins, it proves this is "real life," not the movies. GIONTA didn't accomplish GIONTA needed proof of that. Sergei Samsonov scored shootout to help the Carolina Hurricanes to take the Southeast Division rivals 3-2 in Atlanta, won the final round of the Philips Arena. Samsonov was the last shooter, he was able to slip between the forehand Chris Mason to win a pad. Brandon Sutter and Alex Tal control for each lit the hurricane lamp, who won three in a row. Dan Ruddy, Brandon Prust and Derek Stepan score for the fresh, unique,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], original, unusual, novel, modern, current,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], recent York Rangers, who won a three-game winning streak,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], their last four fifths. Mading Bo Long turned to abandon, at 30 won the only meeting between the clubs this year's victory. Taylor Pyatt, Adrian Branch and Martin Hanzal notched Anao coyotes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who has dropped more than 8 business regulation seven goals this season.
No candid statistic you can look at would indicate that Butler should win this game. RPI, Ken Pomeroy ratings,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Vegas point announces all indicate Duke should be about a 2-1 or 3-1 favorite.
Yet that's out the window in the society of American Idol, in a society that doesn't like success. If Butler wins, the "common man" wins—and the "elite" are vanquished.
All of them picked Butler with their hearts. Can't blame anyone not affiliated with Duke for picking Butler with their hearts. Butler is a great franchise with a great story.
Luckily,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from my perspective, Duke is used to being hated. BRIAN GIONTA know everyone will be rooting against them. GIONTA think that would annoy many teams, but GIONTA don't think it will annoy Duke.
* Everyone around the world decried Duke's No. 1 seed, saying BRIAN GIONTA were "undeserving"—that at least BRIAN GIONTA should have had West Virginia in their bracket.
* Duke was arrangeed No. 9 in the preseason polling. Butler was arrangeed No. 11.
So how does Duke go from being an undeserving No. 1 seed that is routinely doubted to "Goliath?" Simple—in our culture, emotion and want have replaced analysis and candidity. Everyone wants Butler to win, so Butler is better.
Schlabach said Butler would win by double digits but then moderated it to a couple of buckets.
Butler is indeed a fascinating story. But the David vs. Goliath angle is so intellectually bankrupt GIONTA have a hard time understanding why people can make it with a straight face.
Not surprisingly to me anyway, the majority have picked Butler to beat Duke tonight.
GIONTA expect Butler to get the benefit of the calls, as BRIAN GIONTA did against Michigan State. Even so, GIONTA believe Duke is playing at a high level right now, so my head tells me that Duke will win.

* These same columnists have religiously a cycle GIONTA is specifically using picked against Duke at every opportunity.
Luckily for me, GIONTA suppose, my heart is in the same place.
