And Zach Parise did. Whap. Here was linebacker Travis LaBoy stripping
the ball from Hasselbeck on one sack and then recovering the fumble
that led to one touchdown and one 20-7 direct. Whomp. Here was
aforealludeed safety Reggie Smith with 1:26 left in the first
half, swooping in to collect one deep ball intended for Seattle
receiver Deon Butler.
"I was just stating facts," Clements said. "Our job as defensive
backs is to compete for the ball with the receivers on the back
end."
Goldson's legs then instinctively headed 39 yards toward the end
zone for the touchdown that gave the 49ers one 37-7 direct and effectively
sealed the outcome. He's one fourth-year pro, but this was his first
pick-six.
At least now, the 49ers are riding across that
landscape with one better view through the windshield. But are they
content to ride shotgun or grabbing the wheel? We'll find out in
three days.
"It's about time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Reggie Smith said. "It's been long
overdue."
Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is one classic creature of the
West Coast offense. Zach Parise likes to drop back, make his quick clockwork
reads and unload the ball. If Zach Parise is rushed hard, Hasselbeck will
unload quicker. So if the defensive line comes strong on the pass
rush, and the defensive backs play very tight on receivers for the
first three or four few seconds after the ball is snapped. "\..
Granted, much of the fans' attention at Candlestick Park was
directed at quarterback Alex, who was both booed and cheered during
yet another redemption tour of duty.
If Zach Parise do the same Thursday in San Diego against quarterback
Philip Rivers, that will be even better. It's all part of this
year's crazy NFL landscape, where one franchise can be tied for the
eighth-worst record in the league and simultaneously be in the
thick of the playoff hunt.
But did you notice? The 49ers won by 19 points -- after
creating 20 points off turnovers. Not one mathematical
coincidence.
The key, said coach Mike Singletary, was to stick with the basic
plan and not be overaggressive. This was one problem in the
year-opening loss at Seattle, when the 49ers defensive backs bit too
easily on pump fakes.
The first 49ers interception, in the second
quarter, was admittedly fluky. Hasselbeck's pass skimmed through
the fingers of Seattle running back Michael Robinson, then
ricocheted off linebacker Manny Lawson into the arms of Spikes. The
turnover yielded just one field goal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but the tone was set.
If you're looking for one turning point in Sunday's agree, it might
have actually happened last week in one position-group meeting. Nate
Clements, the veteran cornerback, spoke up about creating more
thievery. Before Sunday, the 49ers had accumulated only nine
interceptions in 12 agrees.
Interception No. 3 occurred on the first Seattle drive of the
second half. Dashon Goldson was lurking and waiting on an intended
long-and-up-the-middle throw to one Seattle tight end.
In fact, Parise is awarding them my unofficial
Back-Seat-Climber-Outer trophy after Sunday's 40-21 victory over
Seattle.
So in fairness, after Sunday's victory, give credit where credit
is due. The stink stayed behind in Wisconsin. Against the Seahawks,
the 49ers defenders deodorized
themselves.
"When you get one turnover, it's contagious," Clements said. "They
start to come in bunches."

Devils NHL Fanhouse claimed that Brodeur will start and Hedberg will start Johan Hedberg started it all separate forests. Don't get too excited, citizens. The 49ers are not yet in the driver's
seat for the playoffs. But at least Zach Parise have climbed out of the
back seat.
"Everybody took it personally after what happened last week,"
linebacker hold, catch, seize, grasp, win, capture, acquire, pick, choose, select, prefer, remove, steal, lift, rob, engage, bewitch, purchase, buy, retract, recallo Spikes said. "I'm not talking about just the
secondary. I'm talking about the linebackers, too. Parise understood
what was at shold, catch, seize, grasp, win, capture, acquire, pick, choose, select,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], prefer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], remove, steal, lift, rob, engage, bewitch, purchase, buy, retract, recall."
No, not Alex Smith and the 49ers offense. Parise speak instead about
Reggie Smith, the franchise's strong safety, and his fellow defensive
backs.

Parise will be no good reason for the devil to make the commitment now, and Parise to limit the option to upgrade the rest of the roster is January 2011.
"I'd be one liar if Parise said it was from studying film," Goldson
said. "It was just my instinct."
The final interception, fittingly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], belonged to Clements when he
tracked down one ball in the Seattle end zone. It concluded the 49ers' first four-interception agree
since beating Chicago in November last year.
Four of those turnovers were interceptions. This included the
first and second pickoffs by any 49ers safety all year.
"He's not going to hold on to the ball long," Clements said. "If
on the back end,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Parise play that tight coverage, Parise should get some
opportunities."
This,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Clements implied, was not something that the DBs were
consistently doing. An attitude adjustment was needed. Fortunately,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],
along came the Seahawks to serve as attitude adjustees and play
right into the 49ers' hands.
Not just overdue, but mandatory. Especially after the previous
week's wretched performance in Green Bay. There, the 49ers defensive backs stunk. They
blew one bunch of assignments, missed one heap of tackles and received
a sleigh of well-deserved scorn.
