Tibet gov't chief says fight against Dalai Lama lasting and vehement,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Tibet's top government official on Monday said the fight against the Dalai Lama clique is meant to be lasting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], intense, complicated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and sometimes fought vehemently."We are still facing an arduous task to fight secessionists and maintain stability in the region,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Padma Choling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said in his first government report submitted to the local legislature for review on Monday.
The secessionist forces led by the 14th Dalai Lama were blamed for provoking the deadly riots in Lhasa and other Tibetan regions in March 2008.On another subject, Choling said the government's goal in achieving rapid development and long-term stability in Tibet also faces challenges from lagging infrastructure construction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], development gap between urban and rural areas,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and lack of a system to ensure long-term growth of residents' incomes.
Further,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Choling noted that the region's economy grew 12.2 percent in 2010. Additionally, incomes for both urban residents and nomads continued to grow and efforts to tame environmental hazards were strengthened while new roads and airports were built.
The central government has been pouring vast funding,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], personnel,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and resources to assist Tibet's development over the past decades. Much of these efforts can be seen in the complete makeover of Lhasa and other cities and towns in the region,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], along with their improved transport links - including the landmark Qinghai-Tibet Railway which began connecting the region by rail with the rest of the country in 2006.
China will provide more support for the country's religious communities in their international exchanges and communications,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], said Wang Zuoan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], director of the State Administration for Religious Affairs.Wang made the remarks at the 2011 national conference on religious work held in South China' s Hainan Province on Monday.
The administration will actively support religious circles in China to promote the concept of religious harmony during the first World Interfaith Harmony Week,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which has been recognized by the United Nations and will be held in the first week of February,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Wang said.Additionally,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Wang said that the country is working to streamline the social security system to further benefit religious personnel.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] (sometimes called uggs) are unisex sheepskin boots,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], made of twin-faced sheepskin with fleece on the inside and with a tanned outer surface, often with a synthetic sole. Ugg boots are believed to have been first developed in New Zealand or Australia,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], although the exact date is uncertain. There has been a dispute between manufacturers of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as to whether "ugg" is a generic term and thus ineligible for trademark protection, especially in the region of origin. Deckers Outdoor Corporation holds the UGG trademark in more than 100 countries worldwide. Notable exceptions are Australia and New Zealand where the term is considered generic.
