Calvin Klein has pushed the envelope with semi-nude Times Square ads, but their latest billboard campaign is moving fashion brands and retailers a bit closer to the Fashion 3.0 era. Now, Calvin Klein’s latest campaign incorporates the use of QR Codes into its billboard advertising. Yes, another fashion brand has made a bold move towards technology!
The billboard (this one placed on Sunset Blvd, just above some of the best tacos in LA) marks the official premiere of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Fall 2010 advertising campaign. People can take a picture the billboard on their smartphone, and the cell phone will play a 40-second ad, give links to share the ad via Facebook or Twitter and connect users to the website. We headed to Sunset Blvd to get you an exclusive iPhone photo of the West Coast component.
Our Thoughts: The goal of the billboard isn’t traditional advertising and awareness, the incorporation of QR codes into a more traditional medium show that Klein is trying to translate audience engagement online and offline. We love this!
More and more fashion brands and retailers are going to incorporate the location-based services like Foursquare, augmented reality and QR codes. What’s more, agencies and in-house departments will start combining all three mediums as they work well together for not only the purpose of audience engagement, but creating actionable online-to-offline experiences, as well.
