Manchester United was formed in 1878 by the Carriage and Wagon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath as Newton Heath LYR Football Club. Last Night Rewind
Chad Billingsley has not allowed a run in his last three starts, covering 21.2 innings. He is also 2-0 this season against the Padres. Billingsley has not allowed a run to the Padres in 13 innings and has surrendered only seven hits and a walk in 2010.

Wilson has been tough on the Mariners and is tough on the road in general. The Mariners are hitting just .180 against him in two shots this season and batters hit just .201 against him on the road.
Hanley Ramirez is only 5-for-21 against Kyle Kendrick while Dan Uggla is 5-for-20. Look to use Cody Ross here, given his 4-for-12 mark and Ronny Paulino is 4-for-10.
Julio Borbon and David Murphy should be avoided as well, but no other concerns with the rest of your Rangers in this one. In fact, Hernandez is 0-2 against the Rangers this season with a 7.27 ERA in three starts.
Ubaldo Jimenez was roughed up by the Giants in his last start, but was on track in his outing just five days ago. Jimenez is now 7-0 at home this season. He has struggled with his command of late, walking 12 batters in his last 14.1 innings.
Jon Lester has been strong at home, with his 6-3 record this season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but he has lost his last three starts overall. He has allowed 11 runs in his last 21.2 innings of work.
The Rays are hitting basically everyone right now, but Slowey has some upside in this start,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], given his recent run of luck.
Wednesday Notes
Spot Starts: Sanchez, LeBlanc,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kennedy
While Josh Hamilton has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball, he struggles against Felix Hernandez. Hamilton is just 5-for-28 against him lifetime.
Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-5 in a rehab appearance with Pawtucket. Ellsbury says that he is ready to go,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the Red Sox will likely look to activate him sooner rather than later, given the injury suffered by Kevin Youkilis.
Mike Pelfrey may be 2-1 against the Braves this season, but he has allowed 24 hits in 16.2 innings against them this season. Brian McCann is a .441 hitter against Pelfrey in 34 at-bats and Chipper Jones checks in at .333 as well. Look to keep them in the lineup in this matchup. The only concern would be in Troy Glaus for this one.
Spot Starts: Slowey, Tomlin, Volstad Newton Heath initially played on a field on North Road, close to the railway yard. the original capacity was about 12,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000, but club officials deemed the facilities inadequate for a club hoping to join The Football League. Some expansion took place in 1887, and in 1891 Newton Heath used its minimal financial reserves to purchase two grandstands, each able to hold 1,000 spectators. Although attendances were not recorded for many of the earliest matches at North Road, the highest documented attendance was approximately 15,000 for a First Division match against Sunderland on 4 March 1893. A similar attendance was also recorded for a friendly match against Gorton Villa on fifth September 1889.
Lefties are raking against Kendrick this season to the tune of .312 in 2010. Kendrick does have a win against the Marlins this season, and has surrendered nine home runs in 66.1 innings away from home this year.
Youkilis left Monday's game with Boston due to a thumb injury. He was placed on the DL prior to the game on Wednesday and there are rumors that he may require season-ending surgery on the hand (depending on the report you read).
Thursday Notes
Batters are hitting .292 against him on the road and lefties are pounding him to the tune of .372. Good for the Cubs hitters, Parra has given up nine home runs in 42.1 innings away from Miller Park this year.
Chris Carpenter has dominated the big bats in the Houston lineup. Carlos Lee is just 7-for-37 while Michael Bourn is only 2-for-12 and Hunter Pence is just 1-for-12.
The move should result in Daniel Nava being sent back down to Pawtucket, with Ryan Kalish remaining as the extra outfielder for the time being.
Pablo Sandoval is 10-for-25 against Jimenez, but that's the best of the bunch. No other Giants starter will crack .275 against Jimenez. Use him here with confidence and bench your Giants when possible.
Hanely Ramirez is a .455 hitter in 22 at-bats with two home runs against him and even Wes Helms has hit .365 against Oswalt. Those are the best numbers the Marlins have to offer.
Manny Parra has given up at least four earned runs in five of his last six outings. Parra is just 2-4 on the road this season with a 6.38 ERA.
Lester continues to work deep into games,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with his runs largely coming in the seventh and eighth innings. Those left on the Indians roster do not have many at-bats against the lefty, and he continues to generate solid strikeout numbers. Look for him to get back on track.
Ignore the 5.73 ERA on the road for Freddy Garcia and look at the fact that he is 2-0 against the Tigers this season.
As ugly an injury that Carlos Santana suffered earlier this week, he will only be placed on the DL with a strained knee. An MRI revealed no tears in the ligaments, which is good news to both fantasy owners and Indians fans.
Ryan Dempster recorded two wins against the Brewers so far this season, and draws them at home this time out. Dempster has struck out 72 batters in 75.1 innings at home, while allowing batters to hit just .229 against him.
The Dodgers continue to have issues with injuries of their own. Rafael Furcal is suffering from a strained back muscle but will not go on the DL at this point.
The move allowed Boston to activate Mike Lowell from the DL. He responded immediately with a two-run home run that won the game. Long-term, he is not a solution in anything more than AL-only formats.
Dan Uggla has been on a tear, but he is only 2-for-15 lifetime against Roy Oswalt. Fortunately for Marlins fantasy owners, he is the only issue.
Kevin Slowey's command may be coming back. He has walked just two batters since the All-Star break and has surrendered only one run on eight hits in his last 14 innings of work.

He is listed as day-to-day. Manny Ramirez had a setback with a strained calf muscle. He will not be able to start his rehab assignment as expected, and will likely be delayed at least another week.
Carpenter took the loss in his only outing against Houston this season, but this is a different lineup again and Carpenter is 8-2 at home this season.
Ricky Romero is now 3-1 in his last four starts and has allowed six walks and 18 hits in his last 23.2 innings. Romero shut down the Yankees last night, throwing a complete game. It was his third effort this season.
Corey Hart may have a new deal, but he is just 4-for-27 against Dempster while Ryan Braun is 6-for-33. Rickie Weeks, Prince Fielder, and Casey McGehee are worth the plays.
How about some good news for Jose Lopez owners tonight? Lopez is 8-for-16 against C.J. Wilson lifetime; good for the best numbers on the Mariners. Neither Ichiro nor Chone Figgins have hit Wilson well, as both fall below .240 with 21 and 17 at-bats respectively.
The team feels that at this point, they will not have to explore surgery. The knee simply will need the time to heal. Lou Marson was recalled and will get the bulk of the work.
Garcia has posted a 3.27 ERA against Detroit so far this season, allowing 12 hits and three walks in 13 innings of work. Only Miguel Cabrera is worth the start here. Johnny Damon is only a .245 hitter and Jhonny Peralta is 3-for-14.
