TheX-raydiffractionpatternshowedthatthebufferlayerwastexturedalong (101) direction, andthesurfacelayerlookedlikepolycrystalline, butstillwithstrong (101) peak. BothofthemcontainedasmallamountofMgandMgOimpurities. ThebendingexperimentsindicatedthatthestainlesssteelsubstrateMgB2thickfilmsamplescankeeptheirsuperconductingpropertiesnochangeuntilthesampleswerebentto180witha500 ~ mcurvatureradius. ThecrosssectionSEMpresentedthatthethickfilmwasdensewithoutinterface. ThesurfaceSEMindicatedthatthefilmadheredtothesubstrateverywel1. althoughasmallpartofthesurfacewasdroppedafieritwaentto180. TheseresultsindicatedthatthestainlesssteelsubstrateMgB2thickfilmpossessedgoodductilityandhadstrongprospectonpotentialapplication.
