The Swiss group The British Masters has breathed new life into the old name Graham with unusual watch creations. The moniker is derived from one of the most important figures in the history of watchmaking: the great George Graham was not only the namesake of the cylinder escapement from the eighteenth century, but was also said to be the inventor of the chronograph and may justifiably be called one of the most important men in the history of watchmaking.
Each model from the line is immediately distinguishable due to its spectacular design and an impressive array of professional features. In its unending quest for excellence, Graham-London has created two powerful bi-compax chronographs, equipped with tachymeter and GMT functions. The name of the collection, which derives from right-angled sharp turn of the Silverstone Circuit, the Stowe Corner, as well as the bright colors employed in the watch design, offer a worthy homage to racing events of the 1960s.
Strictly limited to 250 items for each dial variation, the Silverstone Stowe GMT watch is proposed with a black PVD-treated steel case, which measures 48 mm in diameter. Its thickness is equal to 17 mm. The case also reveals a transparent backside, equipped with a flat and dark sapphire crystal secured by six screws.
Just as well, the Graham watch case is equipped with a crown, affixed by an additional hexagonal bolt. The oval pushers, intended for the chronograph controls, expose the same grip surface as the pedals of a racing car. The water-resistance of this model is down to 50 meters.
Embraced by the case is an attractive carbon fibre dial. It is completed with 30-minute and 60-seconds counters, located at 3 and 9 o'clock correspondingly. The 30-minute sub-dial is embellished with a snailed pattern. The date is indicated in a double-disc exhibition window, nestled a 6 o'clock. The display also includes Arabic numerals, treated with a luminous coating, which improves the clarity of the dial. The latter is protected by a domed sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides.
Produced with the utmost attention to details, the new Graham collection collection conveys a true spirit of speed and adrenaline. One of its strongest features is a sophisticated flyback mechanism, which allows the user to activate the back-to-zero function without stopping the chronograph. As soon as the flyback pusher is released, the seconds hand quickly restarts from zero. The immediate start of retiming is ensured by a single push of the button.
The Graham-London Silverstone Stowe GMT watch demonstrates a black concave bezel. Produced from carbon fibre, it creates a striking contrast to a red or green ring, which serves to display a second time-zone. Both time-zones are possible to be read off simultaneously. This advantage is provided by the GMT function. Another hallmark feature of this model is represented by a tachymeter scale, which enables the watch wearer to measure average speed.
Animating the functions of the graham watch is a self-winding bi-compax chronograph movement-Calibre G1721. This mechanism is composed of 347 individual parts, including 28 jewels. The movement operates at a frequency of 28, 800 vibrations per hour and boasts a 42-hour power reserve.
The final touch is provided by a special "tyre effect" strap, which joins to a ceramic buckle. The strap features a red or green inset, which echoes the dial motto of the Silverstone Stowe.
